Terry Wade

Terry Wade is a proven leader that has served more 30 years in the United States Army, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and the Department of State. He currently serves as the Operations Manager of Checkmate Global, a nationally recognized multifaceted security company with a primary focus on temporary deployable perimeter security assets, vulnerability assessments and surveys, workplace security and safety consulting, and executive protection details and training.

After leaving the United States Army, Mr. Wade served as a project manager for the Defense Information Systems Agency, where he managed several Department of Defense communication projects. He assisted in the development and implementation of one of the largest systems consolidation and relocation efforts for the Department of Defense. Mr. Wade also served as a Program Manager for the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the Department of State. He led a team of 50 personnel to support U.S. citizen in countries around the world. He was vital for the support for citizens during the COVID pandemic, working to get U.S. citizens back to the United States.

Mr. Wade is a retired Command Sergeant Major, where he served as an armor and cavalry soldier for more than 30 years. He served in various leadership positions in the continental United States, the Middle East, and across Europe. Mr. Wade’s military service included multiple deployments to Iraq, providing leadership and guidance during high intensity operations through persistent stability support to coalition forces and the local population. His activities included the security for airfields in northern Iraq and provided oversight for the safety and care of thousands of displaced civilians along the Iran-Iraq border. He was also responsible for the development, force protection, and logistical support for several remote locations along the Syrian border.

Mr. Wade served as the senior branch manager and career advisor for the entire career management field of the 26,000 strong enlisted armor and cavalry soldiers in the United States Army. He provided input for all professional developing assignments, training, and formal evaluations to ensure the strength of the armor and cavalry force. Mr. Wade is a United States Army Sergeants Major Fellow, capitalizing on his experience to mentor and coach hundreds of the future senior leaders of the United States Army.

He is a Native of Houston, Texas, and a graduate of Excelsior College with a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s degree in adult education and lifelong learning from Pennsylvania State University. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas.
